EU-LAC WORKING GROUP ON RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES

In the EU-CELAC Senior Officials meeting on Science and Technology meeting that took place in March 2016, it was confirmed the commitment to the implementation of the Common Research Area (CRA) based on three pillars: mobility of researchers, access to research infrastructures and jointly addressing common challenges.

As a first step in enabling a structured dialogue on research infrastructures (RI), a bi-regional Working Group on Research Infrastructures (WG RI) was established in March 2017, to support policy making and coordination in the RI dimension,  facilitating multilateral initiatives leading to a better use and development of research infrastructures amongst the two regions.

The specific objectives of the WG RI are to:

  • Exchange of information on national and regional, EU and LAC RI policies and on the respective medium to long term RI development planning;
  • Identify RIs which are priorities for regional and bi-regional cooperation, building on  respective strategic roadmapping exercises.

Since the creation of the WG, meetings and policy workshops have taken place twice a year in the EU and LAC countries. For more information on the meetings and workshops, follow the Documents and Events icons.
