Instruct Theoretical and Practical Course: Integrative Structural Biology in Latin America

Online
23/11/2020 - 09:00 to 27/11/2020 - 17:00

The Integrative Structural Biology in Latin America Theoretical and Practical Course, organised by the pan-European distributed research infrastructure  INSTRUCT-ERIC, will take place during 5 days from November 23 to 27. Opened to Latin American graduate students and postdocs, this year will be held online due to COVID-19.

Structural biology is at the heart of most major advances in our understanding of the mechanisms governing biological processes. As the biological systems under study become more complex, the results from individual techniques fail to address the problems with enough depth to provide a full understanding of their structural and dynamic features.

In the  course the participants will be given a broad display of the fundamentals of X-ray crystallography, X-ray scattering, NMR and electron microscopy, with a focus on current strategies used to integrate the information gathered from different techniques. It will include virtual poster presentations open for discussion, where participants will show their projects via slides. Posters will be evaluated by a group of instructors. The best presentation will be awarded a 100€ prize and two mentions will be awarded 50€ each.

The list of speakers and tutors include experts from European countries as well as Argentina.

Registrations are opened until November, 6. The application form, as well as the complete agenda and contents of the course are available at INSTRUCT-ERIC webpage.
