Joint Communication of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the European Commission: European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean: joining forces for a common future
The Joint Communication, dated 16.04.2019, was addressed to the European Parliament and the Council. It proposes to strengthen the EU’s political partnership with LAC, setting out a vision for a stronger and modernised bi-regional partnership and includes seveal references to research and innovation cooperation.
Conclusions of the ICRI 2018 event
The ICRI 2018 Conference took place in Viena, in September 2018, during the Austrian Presidency of the European Council,
The aim of the conference was not only to discuss and debate a great variety of issues, but to focus on certain pressing issues and move the debate towards concrete conclusions and propose ways forward to secure effectiveness and functionality of RIs. The conference had 5 Parallel Sessions that looked at specific issues in more detail, being one of them internationalisation. Other issues were human resources, fostering of diversity and overcoming of inequality, enhancing societal value, and data.

GENDER-RESPONSIVE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION FOR HORIZON EUROPE
The H2020 funded project GENDERACTION has been creating policy briefs since the beginning of the project regarding Gender content in the new EU Research & Innovation Programme (2021-2027) "Horizon Europe".
This Briefing Paper is a call to action to redefine the proposed model of International Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation, known as Openness to the World, in light of the Women’s Human Rights principles and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Both Gender and International Cooperation are cross-cutting issues in Horizon 2020, and the next EU Research and Innovation Programme is an opportunity for increasing the linkages between them. The briefing paper "Gender-responsive International Cooperation for Horizon Europe" includes some recommendations in this regards.
ERANET-LAC STRATEGIC ROADMAP FOR JOINT ACTIVITIES
The Strategic Roadmap for Joint Activities. The “Network of the European Union (EU), Latin-America and the Caribbean Countries (LAC) on Joint Innovation and Research Activities”, ERANet-LAC (10/2013 – 03/2017) has contributed to fostering the bi-regional cooperation in research and innovation by organizing and implementing concrete joint activities and by creating a sustainable framework for future bi-regional joint activities with both European and Latin- American / Caribbean research and innovation funding agencies and programme owners.
STRATEGIC ROADMAP FOR THE EU-CELAC JOINT INITIATIVE ON HEALTH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
The EU-LAC Health project´s long-term objective is to define a Roadmap to enhance and coordinate the scientific collaboration between Europe and LAC in the field of health, as a result of an extensive dialogue process with policy-makers, experts and R&D funding bodies on how to better coordinate health research activities between the two regions through existing or innovative funding schemes, and thus defining a new cooperative framework. This roadmap includes a prioritized Scientific Research Agenda defining the scientific objectives that allow addressing global societal challenges, and the added value derived through this bi-regional cooperation
POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS ON INNOVATION COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND LATIN AMERICA AND CARIBBEAN
Report Prepared on the conclusions reached on the Innovation Forum, Madrid 23 and 24th May 2016. This document includes a set of the above mentioned Policy Recommendations for enhancing the EU-CELAC innovation cooperation prepared from the work conducted by all the participants who attended the Innovation Forum.
An exploration of the future Latin America and Caribbean (ALC) and European Union (UE) bi-regional cooperation in science, technology and innovation
During the SOM meeting held in Costa Rica in April, 2014, it was stressed by several national representatives the need to develop a strategic vision for the bi regional cooperation to better focus its activities and to provide strategic guidelines. In response the ALCUE Net Executive Committee decided that a foresight exercise should be conducted with priority as a specific activity, under the coordination of SENACYT of Panama.
International Research Infrastructure Landscape 2019
The report International Research Infrastructure Landscape 2019 is the main result of the RISCAPE project, funded by H2020, and illustrates the position of the European RIs by research area in the international RIs landscape
RISCAPE aims at providing a systematic, focused, high-quality, comprehensive, consistent and peer-reviewed international landscape analysis report on the position and complementarities of the major European research infrastructures in the international research infrastructure landscape.

EU-LAC Innovation Conference: conclusions
The European Union - Latin America and Caribbean Innovation Conference took place in Brussels, in November 2019., with the objective of strengthening the dialogue on innovation cooperation and advancing in building a EU-CELAC Common Research Area .
Experts, stakeholders, funding agencies and representatives of different political institutions came together to debate on the needs and further steps for enhancing the innovation cooperation between both regions.
Some of the thematics that were included in the discussions were: policies and good practices to promote innovation in LAC and EU countries; Innovation support instruments and common challenges to innovation, among others.
The document summarises the main conclusions of the event.
